We have had a lot of queries about creating larger size sewing patterns, and as we have been updating our older patterns, we have been including larger sizes. This week we are launching a section on our website especially for these patterns!
If you see that we don’t have one of our patterns in your size, please email us the details of the pattern, along with your bust, waist and hip measurements, and we will try our best to re-size the sewing pattern for you!

... petite sizes are welcome to do this too!

Tutorial of the week

Wrist pin cushion

Keep your pins out of your mouth, or prevent them from lying around and getting lost, simple by creating this really easy and functional wrist pin cushion – and it sharpens your pins too!

What you need:

A circle of fabric, roughly 15cm / 6” in diameter
A length of elastic that will fit around your wrist
A decorative button
A roll of steel wool (this steel wool helps to keep your pins sharp)

Steps / Details:

Step 1: Sew the ends of the elastic together

Step 2: Feed thread along the edge of the circle of fabric and gather slightly

Step 3: Separate the ball of steel wool and use it to stuff the circle of fabric.

Step 4: Pull on the thread to gather the circle of fabric closed with the steel wool encased within, knot thread into place.

Step 5: Sew on your decorative button in the center of the pin cushion, on the opposite side to the opening.

Step 6: To finish off, stitch on your elastic wrist band, covering the sewn up opening.

Your pin cushion is now ready to use! Enjoy and... Happy Sewing!

Rise and shine coffee coasters

If you’re anything like me, you fumble around clumsily in the mornings until at least your second cup of coffee... which is why a fabric coffee coaster always goes down well in my home, to help with any spills that might occur before I am fully awake.
I needed a new set for my bedroom, and decided to make these. They have burlap bases, and the fabric is an upholstery fabric, so they are nice and thick... and don’t stain easily.
What you need:
For each coaster I used:
1 x square of fabric 12.5cm x 12.5cm / 5” x 5”
1 x square of burlap 12.5cm x 12.5cm / 5” x 5”
Sewing thread to match
Steps / Details:
Step 1: Right sides of fabric facing, stitch around the edge of the coasters, leaving a 1cm / 3/8: seam allowance
Step 2: Clip corners, and turn your coasters right way out.
Step 3: Fold the seam at the opening inwards, and stitch around the boarder of you coasters, about 5mm / 1/8” near the edge, closing the opening and neatening the edges.
Step 4: To finish off, stitch a cross pattern on your coasters.

Your coffee coasters are now ready to use! Enjoy and... Happy Sewing!

Burlap door draft stopper

A couple of months ago I managed to get my hands on some gorgeous dyed burlap, and like most fabric hoarders, I had no clue at the time as to what I was going to do with it.
This week, with the autumn winds moving in, we discovered a rather nasty draft coming in from under one of our draws, and inspiration hit! Not only do I (finally) get to use my dyed burlap, but I’m also able to get rid of some of my unusable fabric scraps, that I keep for moments just like these. So here’s how I did it...
What I used:
2 x 1 meter / 1 yard lengths of burlap, 10cm / 4” wide
A whole lot of fabric scraps for stuffing
Sewing thread to match
Steps / Details:
I chose this rather long length of fabric, because I wanted my draft stopper to come in on the sides, but measure your door and make your draft stopper to the length of your choosing. Just remember to add a 1.5cm / 5/8” seam allowance to either side.
Step 1: Right sides of fabric facing, sew around the fabric lengths, leaving a gap at one end.
Step 2: Trim the corners, and turn your draft stopper right way out, making sure to push out your corners.
Step 3: on the closed end of the draft stopper, sew near the edge of the seam, about 0.5cm / 1/8” near the edge
Step 4: Stuff that sucker! That’s right, stuff in as much old fabric off cuts as you can manage, but remember to leave enough space to be able to sew your seam closed.
Step 5: Once your stopper is completely stuffed, turn the raw ends inwards and stitch into place, about 0.5cm / 1/8” near the edge.

Your door draft stopper is now ready to use! Enjoy and... Happy Sewing!
