Rise and shine coffee coasters
If you’re anything like me, you fumble around clumsily in the mornings until at least your second cup of coffee... which is why a fabric coffee coaster always goes down well in my home, to help with any spills that might occur before I am fully awake.
I needed a new set for my bedroom, and decided to make these. They have burlap bases, and the fabric is an upholstery fabric, so they are nice and thick... and don’t stain easily.
What you need:
For each coaster I used:
1 x square of fabric 12.5cm x 12.5cm / 5” x 5”
1 x square of burlap 12.5cm x 12.5cm / 5” x 5”
Sewing thread to match
Steps / Details:
Step 1: Right sides of fabric facing, stitch around the edge of the coasters, leaving a 1cm / 3/8: seam allowance
Step 2: Clip corners, and turn your coasters right way out.
Step 3: Fold the seam at the opening inwards, and stitch around the boarder of you coasters, about 5mm / 1/8” near the edge, closing the opening and neatening the edges.
Step 4: To finish off, stitch a cross pattern on your coasters.
Your coffee coasters are now ready to use! Enjoy and... Happy Sewing!
